The Cottonera Waterfront Project has been entrusted to the Cottonera Waterfront Group plc., a Consortium composed of leading Maltese companies - Vassallo Builders Group Ltd, Blokrete Ltd, Hal Man Holdings Ltd, Ballut Blocks Services Ltd, Alberta Projects Ltd, B&C Ltd, Applied Economics Consulting Ltd, Raniolo Ltd.
The total project is spread over an area of 34,000 sq ms of land.
Challenge
The project which has been described as a significant challenge,consists of
- delicate restoration works and cleaning of historical places dating back to the XV-XVI centuries,whilst at the same time retaining the cultural and historical character of the location,
- the construction of about 300 berth yacht marina,
- an exclusive block of luxury apartments having sea views,
- the marina residency club at Fort St. Angelo,
- various retail outlets, offices, commercial and cultural complexes,
- other amenities which include catering establishment and car parking facilities
Concern for Neighbourhood
The investment being made on this project is expected to help regenerate the area and create new opportunities to both the local community and the national economy at large.
