This Museum is a 19
th Century British Military Barracks consisting of three display rooms and an underlying kilometre of World War II air raid shelters. These tunnels were hewn into the town walls by hundreds of Vittoriosa’s inhabitants – all digging for days on end. Although devoid of proper ventilation, sanitary conditions or any form of privacy, such tunnels would have provided enough shelter to serve as their safe havens.
