The Magisterial Palace, which was constructed by Grandmaster Juan D’Homedes (1536-53), contained luxurious private gardens and a zoo with all sort of animals. During the years, the palace has since been leased to private interests. A surviving small garden in D’Homedes Street is believed to have formed part of the original private gardens.
