Dockyard Terraces

These palaces were built by La Sengle in 1550’s so that the captains may be nearer to the Order’s Galleys which would have been moored on the Senglea side of Galley Creek. Other ship captains built their residences in the area. During the British era, these elegant houses were taken over by the British Army and later handed to the Navy. These were once again given to the Army when they were converted into an Officers’ Mess. Eventually, they were passed onto the Royal Naval Dockyard.
