Situated in St Liberata Street, this statue was commissioned by Fr Joe Garzia and financed by the Franciscan Tertiaries in 1996 in order to commemorate the bicentennial of the building of the Capuchin Convent. Built of grime marble and cement, the statue of St Francis replaces a previous statue of the same saint that was destroyed as a result of enemy action on the 7th July 1940.
