The Manderaggio
For untold years the Manderaggio was a sea inlet which was used for sheltering small craft during stormy days or for periodical maintenance. This inlet was later filled in when the Order built the bastions around the city. The poorer villagers built their small and primitive dwellings on the reclaimed land, and these survived up until the 1970’s when the shacks and the majority of old buildings were replaced by modern flats.
